We have been approached to undertake a major refurbishment and extension to an existing terrace house in the Linslade Conservation Area of Leighton Buzzard.

The current house consists of two bedrooms and a single storey lean-to extension to the rear consisting of a small kitchen and family bathroom. The existing stair position and width of the property currently restricts the circulation between spaces.

The proposal focuses on a series of interconnected stacked elements to form new living accommodation, bedrooms and a family bathroom.

The material palette draws on local heritage and uses timber shingled cladding to the first and second floor elements, creating a contemporary aesthetic to the rear of the property.

The celebration of materials, light and space are key drivers behind the design.
