Woodside Sports Village

Our Woodside Sports Village competition bid seeks to re-imagined the connection between the community and sports. The proposal focuses on the implementation of health & well-being incentives for the wider community. Situated within a site with Greenflag Status, it was important to promote sustainability in the building construction and improvements to the wider public realm.
3D Visualisation for the potential new Cricket Pavilion.
As part of the project the notion of collaboration looks to improve the connection between each building from the existing masterplan and also provide the opportunity to 65 combine the three community clubs under one banner at the community sports hub. The stable courtyard is activated with key health and well-being narratives to be inclusive of all current sports whilst introducing new usage of non-sport focused visitors to the ground provides the opportunity to create for the region not just the sporting community.

The design approach we proposed to undertake an extensive appraisal of the existing locally listed buildings of the boxing club, changing rooms and stables. The existing boxing club features a grand entrance, which we believed should be maintained to mark the entrance to the building, rather than just becoming a secondary entrance to changing areas. By considering the main entrance sequence we feel that the connection between each building can be accentuated and celebrated.

"Our purpose is to have a direct impact on the community, fostering relationships and driving a health and well being agenda forward into everyday life."
